Justice (Retd) B A Kirmani delivers extension lecture at CUK | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNO) : School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Monday organised an extension lecture on “Juristic Thoughts of Allama Iqbal,” which was delivered by former High Court Judge and Jammu and Kashmir State Accountability Commission member, Justice (Retd) B A Kirmani. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Dean School of Legal Studies, Prof. Sheikh Showkat Hussain, Prof. Altaf Ahmad Ahanger, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.

In his welcome address, Prof Sheikh Showkat said that Iqbal is of immense importance to whole humanity. He said that people belonging to different religious ideologies subscribe to the thoughts of Iqbal. He said the School of Legal Studies commemorates Iqbal day every year. Addressing the gathering Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir said that Iqbal will always be remembered for his contribution in shaping the world and Humanity. Iqbal’s main inspiration came from the Holy Quran and his philosophy and poetry is based on that. Speaking on the occasion, Justice (Retd) B A Kirmani said that there were several stages through which Iqbal passed during his poetic career. He said “on inception of his career, Iqbal touched every issue.

Subsequently one can find a streak of nationalist poet in him. From this stage, he proceeded to think about the plight of Muslims in sub-continent and subsequently he transcended beyond the subcontinent and focused on humanity in general and Ummah in particular. Iqbal realized that the prime reason for decline of Muslim has been their inability to keep pace of their thought process with the space and time.” Prof. Altaf Ahmad Ahanger also made the concluding remarks. Assistant Professor Department of Law, Ms Gulafroz conducted the programme proceedings while as Assistant Professor, Mr. Bilal Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks.
